Our Story

”We are getting goats, I don’t care what your dad says....”

It all started innocently enough, with a trip to the county fair with my then 7 and 9 year old children. We had been debating over whether to choose chickens or rabbits for the youngest’s 4H project when we entered the goat barn. There,  together in the corner of the first stall, were 4 tiny baby goats. They were cute and sweet and playful.

Game. Over.

I was in love with these adorable little creatures and that’s when I exclaimed those fateful words: “We are getting goats, I don’t care what your dad says!”

It was approximately 30 minutes later when both children repeated those words to their father.

So those are the words I am reminded of when I am trudging  through 3 feet of snow to feed the goats or when I am playing the ever-so-fun game of “is it poop or mud?”  They are the  words make me bite my tongue when I want to complain about mucking the stalls or when I lose a boot walking in the mud (or poop?).  And these are also the words that started my journey from suburban physical therapist to full time goat herdin’, chicken wranglin’ soap maker.

About Me

  Greetings & Salutations!

My name is Tiffany and I am the head soap maker (well, the only soap maker) here at Straw In My Bra. I live with my husband, 2 children, 2 dogs, 28 chickens and 14 goats on 10 acres in Northeast Ohio. I am an avid coffee drinker and love Converse shoes - I have over 10 pairs (and counting!). I even have a custom pair with the Straw In My Bra logo and little goats!

Custom converse with goats!

I began making soap as a way to use up the goat milk we would have when we were drying up the mother goats.  One batch of soap and I was in love- with the process, with the smells and, obviously, with the soap.  I began making soap regularly and never looked back - now I have a house full of soap (and all sorts of good smells).
